This leads them to the FLIST (a file sharing service) page of Dylan Merchant. After doing some cleanup on Hypnospace, and tracking down illegal speedboosting software in the Freelands, the character is assigned a copyright infringement case. Members of Goodtime Valley are retaliating against the banning of their Gumshoe Gooper images, creating a free speech movement called "I Stand with Gooper." The HSPD will send cases for the player, where they must find and track down suspected violations. As an enforcer, the player acts as a moderator on Hypnospace, tracking for content that infringes the CHIME laws: Copyright, Harassment, Illegal Activity, Malicious Software and Extralegal Commerce. ![]() ![]() The player completes a short tutorial where they learn about their job. The game begins on November 5, 1999, with the player being introduced to their new volunteer job as an enforcer for Hypnospace, an internet service provided by Merchantsoft where users can browse the internet in their sleep with the use of a headband. ![]()
